For industrial hard chrome plating, the chrome plating is applied by means of an electrolyte directly onto the base material. Depending on requirements, the plating thicknesses vary from 5 m to > 1.0 mm. Since the temperature of the hard chrome bath is only just 55°C, neither distortion nor structural changes of the base materials occur as the consequence of thermal influence. Hard chrome-plated surfaces are particularly hard-wearing and resistant to corrosion and wear and they have a gloss finish.
