With Zintek® ONE, Atotech recently introduced a new silver inorganic zinc flake base coat providing reliable corrosion protection with only one coating layer. This makes Zintek® ONE a cost-effective alternative to standard zinc flake applications and conventional acid zinc-based corrosion protection finishes.
In highly cost-driven industries such as fastener coatings, the demand for economical but reliable corrosion protection systems is constantly increasing. Especially the low end market with performance requirements below 480h in Natural Salt Spray Test (NSST) is calling for simplified production processes that help to reduce process costs, handling costs and energy consumption.
Zintek® ONE achieves up to 480h without corrosion in NSST according to ISO 9227 - depending on the part geometry and equipment used. The new base coat is applied in dip-spin application with a typical thickness of 6 8 micro meters with only one coating step. Excellent mechanical resistance properties and very good adhesion ensure a uniform surface even after mechanical stress. Therefore Zintek® ONE is particularly suitable for parts, including bolts, screws, springs and others, with a simple geometry especially for non-automotive, construction and heavy industry applications.
Zinc flake coatings from Atotech are flexible systems that can be modularly and individually adapted to various production requirements. Since the zinc flake technology presents no risk of hydrogen embrittlement, the coating is also perfectly suited for high tensile fasteners. In line with Atotech's approach of environmentally friendlier solutions, the zinc flake coatings are free of Pb, Hg, Cd, Ni, Co, and Cr(VI).
