Modern coating applications require precise thickness control and defect inspection to ensure functionality and durability. Conventional contact-based measurement methods are often limited by material combinations, surface roughness, geometry or accessibility. The patented laser-photothermal technology provides an alternative approach for non-contact, non-destructive coating inspection.

The laser locally heats the coating surface, generating a thermal wave that propagates through the coating and is partially reflected at the interface to a substrate or a defect. Enovasense products from Precitec apply this laser-photothermal principle in compact, vibration-insensitive sensors designed for industrial environments. The technology enables reliable thickness measurements on a wide range of coating materials and substrates, independent of curvature, edges or surface structure. In addition, Precitec Optronik offers optical sensors for quality inspection based on chromatic confocal and interferometric technologies for precise, fast and non-contact measurement of distances, thicknesses and topography.
